Eating with your mouth open
Talking with your mouth full

April 25, 2009
10:00 am to 3:30 pm
First Unitarian Universalist Church
4605 Cass Avenue, Detroit, Michigan 48201

Please bring a simple food item (i.e. a particular spice, grain, fruit, etc.) that is important to you. During the afternoon activity, you will be invited to tell a story about the food you brought. Help us to plan the lunch ! Make your reservation now! RSVP at: ericagiorda@wowway.com or river1143@comcast.net

The progressive disconnection from the source of our food, the confusion about diet, and the lack of food culture that characterize part of the American society are at the basis of many problems. Yet, even in this threatened environment, food keeps a miraculous property: people still connect around a table where food is presented. Food is a threshold, where we greet people we know and approach people we don’t.

Please join us for a day of tales and food, to celebrate the Earth, the new growing season, and our Detroit neighbors who will share their stories about food. Please bring your own food stories to share.

Lunch will be provided by Chef Phil Jones of Jones Urban Foods.

If you can, please consider a donation of $3 to $10 to help Great Lakes Bioneers Detroit to cover the expenses.
